Why use car insurance for learner drivers.

The reason that the learner driver insurance is such a good idea, is because it alleviates the problems associated with getting enough practice before your driving test. The learner insurance policy assists in reducing the overall cost of learning to drive.

The recommended learner insurance which covers provisional licence insurance and makes it possible to now have car insurance for learner/provisional drivers is supplied by our leading insurer on the following basis;

Every 17-year-old, and often more mature person's at some time would very much like to start driving. If one was to ask a driver which was the exam they remembered the clearest, and which exam during their lifetime made the biggest difference to their lives most people would say their driving exam.

The learner insurance for provisional licence holders as supplied by our leading insurer has both the flexibility and cost effectiveness which make it extremely easy to get a 17-year-old, or more mature person on the road cheaply and quickly.

Learner insurance costs.

Learner drivers insurance is only £89.50 for the first 28 days and thereafter the policy can be extended either on a 7 day (weekly) or 28 day basis. You can qualify for a 20% reduction in costs if you use our promotion/referral code (321358).

If you purchase learner driver and insurance (provisional insurance) through our website by clicking on one of the links you will be eligible for a £20 discount for each subsequent period of 28 days. This would mean that you would only pay £69.50 for a 28 day extension as opposed to £89.50. Please ensure that you use a link through our website to register and when requested use the promotion code 321358.

If you have any queries with regard to the car insurance for learner drivers please feel free to contact our offices for assistance or registration.

It remains our recommendation that the initial process of learning to drive, with the learner driver policy, should be done under supervision of a qualified and registered driving instructor. Basically, there are very real health and safety aspects associated with the process of learning to drive. The qualified driving instructor has had , and has the facilities in his vehicle to deal with any life-threatening situations during the initial phases of learning to drive. Further into the driving course, by integrating private practice with official instruction, it can assist you in getting test ready, thus reducing the overall cost of learning to drive.

The best way, to integrate private practice with official instruction from a qualified instructor is to initiate the learner drivers (student) first lessons in the instructors car. This promotes safe habits in the initial learning phase and the dual controls in the car are an obvious, much-needed, safety feature.

Learning to drive, safely, involves primarily learning good driving habits. Every experienced driver will tell you that once the basic skills of controlling the car have been mastered, road craft and the ability to deal with the traffic is the final phase of the driving learning process.

To get the maximum advantage from obtaining learner insurance (car insurance for learner drivers) would be that the learner driver discusses with the instructor a course which would involve the initiation of each facet of learning with the instructor and a practice series, in the format of home work and set goals, for the student when he is driving under his learner driver insurance policy.

The format of training that an approved DSA driving instructor, should have obtained, breaks the learning process for the learner driver into a series of modules which need to be mastered before moving on to the next logical module.

The biggest downfall that all drivers experience is the gradual creep of the development of bad habits. Unless a driver constantly analyses and continually monitors his driving procedures the potential likelihood of an accident happening is highly likely due to bad habit creep.

In the ideal world, the accompanying driver (person who will accompany the Learner driver) will have recently done a refresher course, or attends the lessons along with the learner driver. However this is fraught with practical problems. The biggest problem that an older driver, who wishes to accompany the new learner driver, will face is that his knowledge may be outdated and fraught with bad habit creep.

The best option would always be for the learner driver insurance policy holder to combine lessons from a qualified DSA driving instructor with private practice in a private car. It is therefore our recommendation that careful thought be given to the lesson plan and learning process which the new learner driver is exposed to.

Safe Driving for Life

Safe driving for life can not be achieved if we are not continually learning and revising our reaction procedures. Initially, we are recognised as learners. Unfortunately, although many road users are of the opinion that they never learned to drive but were born with this amazing ability to simply drive it is merely a fact that they have never short memories. The day we stop learning is the day we no longer progress and always, but always, bad habit creep will and does get all of us in the end. Being a safe driver means we have to continually be vigilant and honest about our abilities and limitations and extremely tolerant of all those very good drivers out there who never make any mistakes!

The funny thing is, that those drivers who considers themselves as the best drivers are the ones with the most road rage as they never make mistakes and all the other drivers are continually making mistakes which drives them to new frenzies and the limits of their tolerance and patience.

There is no doubt that the car learner driver insurance policy has many benefits. We are constantly reminded by the accident statistics that young learner drivers are the most exposed fraternity to possible accidents. Learning to drive within a controlled environment, with a good competent and registered DSA instructor, is paramount to learning and practicing good skills.

Adopting an attitude to driving which reflects accurate and repetitive safe procedures wherein the driver continually examines all potential accidents or incidents as his own failings will assist to prevent bad habit creep. It is incumbent on the driver, in every situation which arises where an accident may happen, that he (the driver) apportion the blame to his own shortcomings. It is a known fact that every accident is preceded, 80% of the time, by a series of incidents (minor mishaps which may not result in accidents but have the potential of the accident) which if used correctly are warning signs of the potential impending accident.

The good driver sees every incident as a pointer to faults that he initiated. Thus careful thought as to what the driver could have done, by his actions or his observations could have prevented the incident.

By way of example;
As you drive down the road, a car pulls out in front of you from a minor road, crossing your path to turn right (from left to right). The gap was inadequate and you have to brake sharply to avoid the accident. The attitude you need to adopt is not that you are a good driver for having avoided the accident but rather 'why did the incident occur in the first place' and what did you do wrong to initiate the fault and how could you have anticipated the potential accident, what preventive action can you take in future?

You must assume that you have to find out how you could have avoided this potential accident. Here are some issues you should examine to see if you were the cause of this potential accident!
Were you going faster than the recommended speed and thus the other driver misjudged the gap?
Should you have had your lights on because the light is fading or it is dusk or dawn?
Did you forget to turn off your left indicator as you have just turned onto the major road off another side road or round about?
Could you have better anticipated that the other driver was about to turn in front of you by watching if his wheels were moving?
Did you flash your lights for a pedestrian to cross and the other driver thought you were beckoning him to follow through?

Whenever I am faced with a situation or incident which may have caused an accident I have always looked for the faults on my side first. Invariably during my 40 years of driving, which have been accident free, there have been minor mistakes which I made which led to the indiscretion of the other driver. Safe driving requires continual vigilance and analysis of our own skills. We have to prevent bad habit creep and make the corrections before we have an accident and a serious reality check. It is only when we realise that we are fallible and human that we can make progress.

The greater majority of accidents occur because both parties have made a mistake and rarely only one is to blame!

Case studies of how a learner insurance, provisional insurance for the new learner has assisted the learner driver.

The learner driver insurance has been applied in various situations and often forms an integral part of our intensive and residential driving courses that we offer the learner driver.

Firstly the learner insurance does not allow the learner driver to drive on his own. It is a necessary prerequisite that the learner driver should be accompanied by a licensed driver who has held a valid United Kingdom driving licence for at least three years and is over the age of 21 years.

The provisional insurance which is allocated to the learner driver only allows him to drive the car as mentioned in the policy taken out by the learner driver. The learner drivers insurance does not allow the learner driver card Blanche access to vehicles that are not registered on the policy. The learner driver may however transfer the policy from one vehicle to another.

Car insurance for learner drivers has been specifically designed to assist the learner driver to ensure his own car and use it to practice for his practical driving test. Once again this needs to be under supervision of a person who qualifies in terms of the law.

The provisional insurance policy as provided by our lead insurer does not cover or allow any other person to drive the vehicle under this specific insurance policy, the insurance for learner drivers policy is only applicable to the learner driver in terms of the vehicle mentioned in the policy.
